Hideaway South & Soak Tub

A minimalist forest cabin with an outdoor soak tub, made for slow moments together near Helsinki

Time to slow down

Hideaway South is a private forest cabin designed for quiet time together or solo. The experience centers around a wood fired outdoor soak tub, a guest favorite and the highlight of the stay, surrounded by trees and stillness. The cabin is minimalist and thoughtfully designed for simple self catering, featuring a comfortable 140 cm bed and a large window opening to forest views. Outside, outdoor running water and a summer kitchen make slow mornings, long soaks, and relaxed summer evenings easy and unhurried.

Bicycles for easy summer rides

During the summer season, two bicycles are available for all Hilltop guests to share on a first come, first served basis. In our experience, they are typically available.

The bikes can be picked up from the bike shed, located a little further along the road from Hideaway South, just before Hilltop House. To maintain privacy for Hilltop House guests, we ask that you do not continue past the bike shed. The lock code for the bicycles can be found in the cabin guidebook.

How to find HIDEAWAY SOUTH?

Once you have driven up the steep hill leading into Hilltop Forest, you will find a parking area immediately on your left. To keep the forest area peaceful and safe, we ask Hideaway guests to leave their car here. Parking is free of charge.

From the parking area, the walk to Hideaway South is approximately 300 metres. Simply follow the dirt road forward. Hideaway South is located on the right side of the road, where a small pathway leads up over the rocks, a few hundred metres before Hilltop House.

For your convenience, we provide carts so you can easily move your belongings along the path to the cabin.

Cooking at Hideaway South

There is no traditional shower here. Bathing happens slowly with a handheld ladle, letting warm water fall gently over your skin.

Preparing your Forest soak

Arrive to an unhurried evening. Preparing the soak tub is part of the Hilltop experience, a slow and almost meditative ritual best enjoyed without rushing. We recommend starting well in advance, as filling and heating the tub takes around three hours. Below you will find everything you need to know for preparing your soak. Instructions are also provided in the cabin.
